Silva Global is proud to announce a major milestone. Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and Queensland Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has certified Dextra’s Griptec® coupler systems across three product ranges.

This achievement marks an important step forward for Silva Global and the broader construction industry in Australia. Certification by a body such as TfNSW demonstrates that Griptec® meets the most stringent requirements for safety, efficiency, and compliance.

In May 2025, Silva Global received confirmation of approval for three full product ranges

• Dextra Griptec® Standard couplers (16mm–40mm)
• Dextra Griptec® Positional couplers (16mm–40mm)
• Dextra Unitec couplers (16mm–40mm)

This approval paves the way for Griptec® to be specified in high-value projects across the public and private sectors, ensuring confidence for engineers, contractors and developers who rely on proven, traceable solutions.

Why certification matters

Certification is more than a box-ticking exercise. It demonstrates that a system has been rigorously tested and independently verified to meet national, state and territory code requirements. For project owners and stakeholders, it delivers assurance that reinforcing bar connections will perform reliably under demanding conditions.

A turnkey system for modern construction

Silva Global introduced Griptec® to the Australian market after identifying the need for a safer, more efficient alternative to traditional reinforcement connection methods. The Griptec® system is a turnkey solution that offers:

• Precision swaging: coupler connections are swaged onto bars using the GP40 machine, a fully automated process requiring only a single operator.
• Integrated proof testing: every completed connection undergoes proof-load testing to ensure quality and performance.
• Digital traceability: each coupler is digitally recorded, capturing data on compliance, tensile strength, fatigue and safety.

This approach ensures transparency, accountability and traceability across the supply chain. All data can be shared with relevant stakeholders, supporting smarter project delivery and risk management.

Building capability through strong partnerships 

Our commitment to supporting Griptec® in Australia is strengthened through our partnership with PCA to support the supply and installation of Griptec® couplers swaged onto steel reinforcing bars. PCA operates the GP40 swaging machine at their Brisbane facility, maintains substantial Griptec® stock and produces coupled reinforcing bars ready for use in major construction projects.

Their expertise in diaphragm walls, pile cages and reinforcement solutions complements Griptec® perfectly, ensuring customers across Queensland and beyond have access to high-quality, compliant reinforcement systems.
